The overall automation market is growing rapidly. According to a recent McKinsey report, robot shipments are expected to increase by up to 50% each year through 2030.[1] The increased investment in robotic automation within many Mountpark properties is having a transformative impact on the warehouse landscape.

The scale and versatility of our logistics spaces across Europe is enabling many of our customers to pioneer new automated technologies at pace. From technologies which aim to automate processes such as inventory and data collection to physical automation involving the use of robotics. These advances are helping Mountpark clients improve their efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.

With occupiers ranging from omni-channel retailers to third party logistics providers, we are privileged to see some of the latest advances in robotics within properties developed by Mountpark. Just last year, our customer Amazon announced the introduction of two new robots within its fulfilment centres and explains here, the positive impact robots are having on its business.

In the warehouse environment, physical automation is very much about collaboration between humans and robots, not competition. Increasingly our conversations with clients are around how Mountpark can support and integrate robotics to the benefit of customers and employees. Indeed, automation has enabled many of our occupiers to increase the efficiency and capacity of their warehouse space while enhancing the wellbeing of their employees.

Process automations such as automated inventory management have made huge improvements to productivity and efficiency. Other complex robotic innovations such as automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots are helping to automate repetitive storage and retrieval processes, reducing some of the physical burdens on workers who can be deployed to more meaningful tasks.

Mountpark teams are positioned within striking distance of all our logistics properties across Europe. This gives our clients country specific expertise and bilingual support whether they are seeking a bespoke built property or space within one of our existing logistics parks. What’s more, we pride ourselves on being able to flex our offering to meet the precise requirements of each customer, from constructing a property with the right height clearance for their robotics to incorporating new innovations to help meet ESG targets. In essence, we deliver buildings that strengthen our clients’ businesses. The future of warehousing is incredibly exciting and we continue to deliver dynamic, agile spaces that support the ambitions of our clients.
