MOUNTPARK CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH SETS FUNDRAISING RECORD.

With the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, over 200 spectators converged on Loftus Road, home of Queen’s Park Rangers, to watch the Mountpark Charity Football Match. An annual fixture between teams from Mountpark and the Industrial Agents’ Society, the match ended in a 3-3 draw and raised a record £141,000 for Variety, The Children’s Charity and Combat Stress: The Veterans’ Mental Health Charity.

“It was a really tight game and both teams maintained a great level of play,” said Philip O’Callaghan, Managing Director of Mountpark UK & Ireland. “Unfortunately, some of our older players succumbed to injury, so we may have to rely on a slightly younger team next year!”

Following the match, Mountpark presented a Variety Sunshine Coach to Jo Mullineux, Headteacher of Green Lane SEND School in Warrington. One of more than 50 Sunshine Coaches that Mountpark has helped to fund for schools across the UK, this new minibus will allow pupils to explore places they would otherwise never visit and gain life skills outside the classroom.

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health, providing specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, particularly those with complex mental health issues related to their military service.

Philip O’Callaghan thanked the event’s sponsors, Queen’s Park Rangers Football Club and everyone who had worked hard to make the evening a success.

“We are delighted to see everyone here again and thank you very much for helping us raise a record £141,000 for these two excellent charities,” he said. “It has been a fabulous evening and we look forward to seeing you all again at the same time next year.”
